Position Summary
Prairie State College seeks an experienced part-time hourly instructor to teach current employees within the manufacturing industry for trade-related preparation which is assessed through an overview of industrial processes. A review of math, blueprint reading, and measuring tools relative to shop application are major components of this course.
Reporting Relationship
Direct reporting relationship to the Manager, Workforce, and Community Partnerships – Workforce Trades. Supports the Executive Director, Workforce Development and Community Education, and team with carrying out the mission of the college and department.
Essential Responsibilities
- Instruct students on the basic concepts of math, blueprint reading, and industrial processes.
- Plan for instructional activities supporting curriculum.
- Organize concepts to be taught in a logical and understandable manner covering all objectives outlined in the training program.
- Use appropriate assessment tools to ensure learning.
- Submit and maintain accurate records of attendance.
- Effectively communicate with students to help them achieve their educational goals
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Instructional/Training experience.
- Strong technical math skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience teaching at the community college level.
- Experience working with a culturally and intellectually diverse group.
- Ability to create diverse teaching methods.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Knowledge of the manufacturing industry
