Position Summary:  The Procurement Agent is primarily responsible for performing the purchasing functions, which includes planning, directing, and controlling activities relating to the procurement of materials and services. All activities are to be performed so that production goals can be achieved and delivery date commitments can be met. An on-going goal is to procure supplier services and purchased parts at the lowest possible cost consistent with acceptable standards of quality.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Analyzes and evaluates raw material requirements and places purchase orders in relation to current short-range and long-range forecasts.
• Acts as a liaison between the Company and outside manufacturing firms to insure open communication during new design stages and prototyping.
• Works closely with other departments in providing pricing quotes, component availability, and other related information as well as assisting in the ordering process.
• Assists in coordinating returns of over shipments, resolution of short shipments, wrong parts, and defective parts that have been rejected.
• Selects suppliers that best fulfill the overall production objectives with considerations given to quality, cost, and delivery.
• Maintains a high degree of integrity and fairness in negotiations and transactions with all suppliers.
• Monitors and provides alternate plans in the event of unforeseen contingencies.
• Strives to maintain a cost reduction program on all purchasing activity and transactions to keep expenditures within financial goals defined by management.
• Arranges the most cost-efficient mode of shipment for incoming freight.
• Assists in the repair of capital equipment if/when need should arise.
• Initiates discussions with suppliers concerning industry trends and is to keep appropriate personnel advised.
• Attains knowledge of current Procurement trends and/or systems.
• Achieves corporate and departmental goals.
• Adheres to the procedures set for Procurement in the Company ISO/Compliance documents.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Associate’s Degree in Business / Purchasing / Production Operations Management or completion of one or more Association of Supply Chain Management (ASCM) courses is required. Recommended courses are Certified Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM) and / or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP).
• Two years of experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is required.
• Two years of experience in Purchasing/ordering is preferred.

Salary : $50,530 - $63,143
