Position Summary: The Shipping Clerk is responsible for the daily shipping of all departments. The Shipping Clerk is knowledgeable and proficient in all operations of the Shipping Department. The position will strive to provide the highest quality of services to both inside and outside customers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Pulls orders specific to the pack slip. Ensures each shipment has the correct accessories, manuals, and papers and packaged correctly to avoid any damage to the order. This will include preparing and processing shipments on demand for other departments within the Company.
- Adjusts schedule to handle all rush shipments defined as top priority by any department.
- Learns all equipment to ensure any defects or missing parts can be caught before shipping when items are pulled.
- Operates the shipping manifest with training.
- Assists truckers with incoming deliveries.
- Creates documents for foreign shipments.
- Obtains and maintains Shipping Lithium Batteries Certificate of Achievement (Online course paid for by the company).
- Reviews FedEx Invoices, provides the proper general ledger (GL) code, and forwards coded invoices to finance.
- Always provides the highest quality service possible.
- Performs a physical inventory monthly of equipment located in the shipping stock room.
- Performs a physical inventory weekly of shipping supplies.
- Keeps the warehouse area and shipping department in an orderly fashion at all times.
- Keeps chronological records of all shipments.
- Strives to meet the corporate goal.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Attention to detail, accuracy, organizational skills, and prioritizing.
- Team player with the ability to work well with individuals inside and outside the organization.
- Must be a “self-starter” with a minimum of direct supervision.
- Adaptable and flexible to meet changing needs within the department.
- Basic computer skills. The ability to perform fundamental tasks on a computer, which includes understanding certain software, applications, programs, and tools.
- Be supportive of continuous improvement activities/processes.
- Able to use a pallet jack and dock plate with training.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Preferred experience with working in a shipping/receiving department.
