Summary
The Electrical/Controls/Automation Engineer manages the process of specifying, designing, configuring, testing, supervising, and manufacturing control, electrical, and automation systems. In this role, you will serve as a technical reference for designers and engineering technicians responsible for automation, instrumentation, and control system integration/development. Additionally, you will provide remote assistance for on-site installation and support of PLC/HMI/computer-based hardware, offer schedule and cost updates to project managers on multi-discipline projects, and maintain effective communication with clients and co-workers.
Essential Functions
- Designs control systems and instrumentation equipment, including electrical control panels.
- Conducting analytical assessments and troubleshooting.
- Initiating and leading projects independently.
- Assists with installation and commissioning tasks (experience preferred but not required).
- Modifying and upgrading existing systems.
- Analyze the processes of the assigned facility
- Identify shortcomings that could be opened by automation
- Design systems that can automate processes
- Maintain and repair systems
- Inspect systems to ensure they meet safety regulations
- Familiarity with PLC/SCADA software across multiple platforms.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electronic & Electrical/Controls/Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent experience.
Electrical equipment in explosive environments: 5 years (Required)
Electrical Engineering: 5 years (Required)
Instrumentation: 5 years (Required)
PLC, HMI, and related hardware: 5 years (Required)
Controls, Automation: 5 years (Required)
Electrical Panel, Equipment Design: 2 years (Required)
VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives): 5 years (Preferred).
