Position Summary
The Drafter will be responsible for producing detailed technical drawings and 3D models for cryogenic pressure vessels, ensuring compliance with industry standards and meeting tight project deadlines. While experience with cryogenic vessels is not required, candidates must demonstrate exceptional proficiency in SolidWorks and a strong understanding of drafting demarcation standards. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, confident yet collaborative, and thrives in an industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and revise detailed 2D shop drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks, adhering to project specifications and industry drafting standards (e.g., ASME Y14.5 for GD&T, AWS for welding symbols).
- Ensure accurate demarcation in drawings, including proper annotations, tolerances, and weld symbols, to support manufacturing and quality control.
- Self-proof drawings to identify and correct errors, ensuring high accuracy before submission.
- Process changes to outline and shop drawings quickly, maintaining alignment with project timelines.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to incorporate layout information and order of operations guidance provided by Prentex.
- Maintain organized drawing sheet sequences as per manufacturer requirements.
- Work under minimal supervision, proactively managing tasks and deadlines.
Qualifications and Skills
- Technical Proficiency:
- Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks for both drafting (2D drawings) and modeling (3D parts and assemblies). Experience with SolidWorks 2024 or 2025 preferred.
- Strong knowledge of industry drafting standards, including ASME, AWS, and ISO standards for technical drawings and demarcation.
- Ability to produce clean, precise drawings with correct annotations, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Experience:
- Experience in an industrial environment (e.g., manufacturing, fabrication, or heavy equipment) is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with pressure vessels, piping, or mechanical systems is a plus but not mandatory.
- Personal Attributes:
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines.
- Confident in technical skills and decision-making, but collaborative and open to feedback, avoiding arrogance.
- Detail-oriented with excellent self-proofing skills to minimize errors in deliverables.
- Education:
- Associate’s degree or higher in drafting, mechanical engineering technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
