Overview:
The national offices of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), based in Louisville Kentucky, serve with mid-councils, congregations, worshipping communities, and partner organizations to carry forth the mission of Jesus Christ. Approximately 400 individuals, diverse in race, age, gender, sexual orientation, faith, skills, and more, come together as colleagues to work for a world where justice reigns, peace prevails, and God’s love extends to all people. This community comprises the staff of several national entities: the Office of the General Assembly, Presbyterian Investment and Loan Corporation, the Presbyterian Mission Agency, the Presbyterian Publishing Corporation, Presbyterian Women, and the Administrative Services Group.
Position Purpose: To perform basic maintenance and cleaning tasks, and other duties as assigned.
Work Hours: The role is Regular Full Time Working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Some overtime is required for special projects and events.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Complete work orders, including hanging pictures and replacing deodorizers in restrooms monthly.
- Complete basic plumbing tasks, including unstopping commodes, replacing batteries for sinks, auto-flush urinals, and commodes.
- Replace lightbulbs on the floors.
- Complete room set-ups for everyday meetings and special events.
- Complete cleaning tasks in designated maintenance areas, including mechanical and electrical rooms, and ice machines.
- Assist with furniture moves whether office furniture or systems furniture/workstations.
- Assist with maintenance deliveries at loading dock (receive items and put away).
- Police grounds and sidewalks daily to include monthly pressure washing of exterior terraces and loggia areas both north and south; and cleaning of the monument sign out-front at the corner of Second and Witherspoon streets.
- Assist with snow removal as needed.
Essential Position Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous maintenance experience required.
- Effective communication skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Able to multi-task.
- Able to follow instructions, both verbal and written.
- Basic carpentry is helpful.
Helpful Skills: Ability to speak on or more languages other than English strongly preferred.
