What are the responsibilities and job description for the Success Coach position at Prescott College?
The Prescott College Success Coach helps to create a seamless support system from enrollment throughout an undergraduate student’s academic journey as an integral player in a student’s success. Success Coaches engage with students upon their confirmation to assist them with onboarding procedures, registration and orientation. A key member of student success at Prescott College, Success Coaches provide guidance and support to students as they progress through their academic careers. As part of the advising team, Success Coaches initiate degree planning, track benchmark requirements and support students in accessing resources regarding financial planning, academic inquiry, career outcomes and support services.
Essential Duties
● Provide proactive academic advisement to undergraduate students;
● Perform administrative tasks related to student enrollment, registration, orientation, and degree completion;
● Maintain comprehensive, detailed, and accurate student records using college-wide systems;
● Organize and participate in student recruitment, outreach, retention, and engagement activities;
● Consult with deans, program directors, faculty, colleagues, and students, to provide technical advice and problem-solving assistance;
● Partner with career services, mental health counseling, academic operations and other support services as necessary;
● Utilize college-wide advising systems to work closely with students in identifying all academic options including degrees, extracurricular activities, study abroad programs, field-based experiences, and research;
● Maintain and monitor active student outreach campaigns;
● Analyze data and provide feedback on trends related to proactive campaigns, student engagement data, and retention and persistence information;
● Use social media and other campus communications to reach student effectively;
● Able to communicate and engage effectively with diverse backgrounds and across multiple levels;
● Discuss and reinforce linkages and relationships between instructional program and occupation/career;
● Help students devise concrete, incremental and achievable goals;
● Support the coordination and attend advising, orientation and admissions events.
Desired Qualifications
● Master’s degree in higher education or related field
● Experience in college level academic advising
● Experience working with diverse student populations
● Experience working in a fast paced advising unit
● Experience using data to make informed decisions and preparing reports for leadership
● Experience thinking critically to problem solve independently and as part of a group
● Demonstrated knowledge of current issues and theories in higher education and college advising
● Experience in using Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and Google Suite
● Experience developing and maintaining effective professional work relationships
● Evidence of effective written and verbal communication skills
● Experience assisting with special events
● Ability to work in a dynamic and developing environment
● Organized
