What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clerk of Scales position at Presque Isle Downs & Casino?
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Candidate is in charge of taking entries, drawing of entries, scratches and naming of riders, proof reading of program, filing of foal papers and verifying the record of winning races of apprentice jockeys. Candidate is responsible to verify any jockey changes, report any and all changes to stewards, announcer, TV Control, Mutuels, Equibase, Commentators, record all required data on scale sheets and submit data to the horsemen’s bookkeeper. Directly responsible for weighing jockeys in and out and verifying weight as defined in the racing rules. Candidate will contribute to the Racing Department team by overseeing and accomplishing all other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must have knowledge of rules and regulations of thoroughbred horse racing. Candidate also must have knowledge of the PA Rules of Racing. Candidate must be able to work flexible hours. Candidate is required to be able to obtain/maintain a Pennsylvania Racing License.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years experience in thoroughbred horse racing. Computer experience required. Racing Office experience required.
