Description
The Plant Manager is responsible for managing, directing, and coordinating plant operations. This position will report directly to the CFO/Executive Vice President.
A candidate for the Plant Manager position will be an influential leader who possesses strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills. A candidate will also demonstrate a strong management track record in heavy manufacturing, and possess excellent continuous process improvement skills.
Periodic travel to our local and regional facilities is required.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (not all inclusive)
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Delegate appropriate authority and responsibilities to plant staff (i.e., managers, supervisors, support staff) to meet plant objectives.
- Set and communicate goals to assure all safety, quality, productivity, and service objectives are met.
- Ensure adherence to process control procedures, operating instructions, and all quality control instructions to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction and standard of products is maintained.
- Manage employee and KPI performance and hold accountability for that performance.
- Manage daily and weekly product reporting on all metrics
- Make presentations and communicate with all levels of the organization as necessary pertaining to plant manufacturing activities.
- Maintain a presence on the shop floor and working relationship with all employees that supports a positive work culture and high engagement while ensuring staffing, skills and training support business objectives.
- Works closely with Quality, Sales and Engineering departments to assist in resolving customer issues and technical problems pertaining to product quality, delivery and other technical concerns.
- Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and corporate colleagues at all levels.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (Engineering, Material Science, Business) is strongly preferred; or other post high school education in combination with relevant work experience
- Minimum of 5 years of management/leadership experience in a manufacturing environment; forging industry experience is strongly preferred.
- Ability to interpret and analyze statistical data (SPC)
- Previous experience managing within ISO 9000-2000 quality system
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent computer skills to run multiple software applications, such as Excel, Word, Notes, and MRP systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects
- Self-motivated with high attention to detail
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
