Accounting Clerk (Flock Accountant)

General:

The Accounting Clerk (Flock Accountant) is responsible for data and accounting transactions related to poultry flock management including data gathering, flock classification, and costs. Duties cover verifying accuracy, and maintaining records of production and financial data for reporting and reconciliation.  This role reports to the accounting manager with a primary work schedule of normal business hours, Mon. – Fri. with flexibility to adjust schedule as needed.

Specific Duties / Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain computer-based files & data for flock accounts
• Efficiently enter and manage flock information requests for timely decision-making
• Process financials for flock including grower payment calculations, flock set up / transfer
• Track flock availability including mortality rates, gross & net weights & total flock counts
• Perform month-end duties related to flock accounting – balance to general ledger
• Work closely with accounting & service team to manage grower repair & maintenance costs
• Cross train in other accounting department functions
• Address questions related to flock accounting topics
• Other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor

Education:

• GED(Min); Associate degree in accounting / business or related field

• Coursework in principles of accounting (preferred/ not required)

Experience:

• Min. 1 years’ experience in accounting or related field;

• Intermediate skill level in MS Excel/ data entry

Skills/Abilities/Attributes:

• Working knowledge intermediate skill level in Microsoft office (Excel, WORD, Outlook)
• Organized w/ strong attention to details (especially related to numeric data)
• Analytical problem-solver w/ good communication skills (written & verbal)
• Able to work in fast-paced environment w/ minimal supervision
• Self-directed, team player w/ good interpersonal skills & initiative

Physical Requirements:

• Able to focus while working in open office environment
• Perform computer-based work for extended periods; up to 10 hrs. / day
• Work safely in office setting including: stand, walk, sit, bend, lift up to 30 lbs.
