Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during various dental procedures, including general dentistry, endodontics, and prosthodontics.
- Prepare patients for treatments by taking vital signs and reviewing medical history.
- Manage patient records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Operate and maintain dental equipment, including X-ray machines
- Perform chairside assisting duties to enhance the efficiency of dental procedures.
- Utilize EMR systems such as Open Dental or Dentrix for accurate medical documentation.
- Maintain infection control protocols and ensure aseptic techniques are followed.
- Provide support in pediatric dentistry by creating a comfortable environment for young patients.
- Conduct medical imaging as required and assist with medical coding when necessary.
- Collaborate with the dental receptionist to schedule appointments and manage patient flow.
Skills
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control practices.
- Experience in chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Ability to perform X-ray imaging
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles to assist young patients with care.
