This position coordinates programming for a community-based coalition focused on preventing and reducing youth substance use and promoting positive mental health. Responsibilities include planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating prevention strategies; managing deliverables for multiple grants that support community-based prevention efforts; and coordinating youth and parenting programs along with other evidence-based education initiatives.
The Coordinator may also support outreach efforts and volunteer recruitment, secure in-kind donations, represent the coalition at community events, and respond to requests for information. This role leads a collaborative effort involving a diverse group of stakeholders, including schools, community organizations, government agencies, law enforcement, and other service providers.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who brings ideas and enthusiasm to the role. Candidates must be able to work both collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision. The position requires working with youth volunteers and community partners and helping build community capacity to prevent youth substance use.
Work is performed primarily in community and school settings. Office space is available as needed; however, routine in-office attendance is not expected, and alternative work locations may be used when appropriate. Most duties occur Monday through Friday during standard business hours, with occasional evening and weekend commitments.
Essential Duties:
- Manage the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and strategic work plans to ensure compliance with grant requirements.
- Coordinate community and school education events, awareness campaigns, media outreach, and other partner engagement activities.
- Prepare and disseminate information and promotional materials for programs, campaigns, and events.
- Collect data, prepare reports, and ensure programs are implemented with fidelity
- Track and document time, activities, and supply expenditures by funding sources to ensure accurate budgeting, reporting, and grant compliance.
- Participate in regular check-in calls with grant contract managers and attend required training or professional development, which may require travel.
- Coordinate monthly coalition meetings, including agenda development, meeting notices, arranging guest speakers, recordkeeping, and other administrative tasks.
- Attend meetings with community partners and regional community coalitions to strengthen community collaboration around youth substance use prevention.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Ability To:
- Work a variable schedule averaging 20 hours per week.
- Work positively and effectively with youth ages 12–18, obtain school volunteer clearance, and follow all school policies and procedures.
- Work independently while maintaining communication and coordination with other staff and partner organizations.
- Operate standard office equipment and computer software programs effectively.
- Set up and tear-down displays and equipment for tabling events.
- Represent the coalition professionally and serve as a positive role model for youth.
- Perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Physical demands may include reaching and bending, and repetitive motions associated with computer work.
- Must be able to lift/carry at least 40lbs.
- Work is performed in person and primarily inside but can involve outside work in varying weather conditions.

Ideal Candidates Will Have:
- Familiarity with engaging youth voice in decision making.
- Experience in coordinating parenting classes or other parenting education initiatives.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of youth substance use prevention research and strategies. Prevention Specialist certification is a plus.
- Experience organizing and managing multiple events and projects simultaneously.
- Ability to use social media effectively.
- Initiative, strong work ethic, and the desire to work as part of a cohesive team.
Experience, Education and Other Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field preferred.
- One year of experience working with youth and leading youth activities, programs, or parent education.
- Experience working in schools or with community coalitions preferred.
- Any combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge and abilities will be considered.
Licenses, Certificates and Other Requirements:
- A valid, unencumbered Washington or Oregon State driver’s license.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must successfully pass pre-employment reference checks and a comprehensive criminal background check, including fingerprinting.
Position Duration:
This position is currently funded at its present level through June 2027, with additional funding through December 2028. Continuation of the position is contingent upon renewed grant funding.
Salary Range:
This is a part-time, non-benefitted position based on a 201-day schedule aligned with the school calendar, offering extended time off during summer months. The pay range is $30.47 - $32.87 per hour DOE.
