Brief Description: Responsible for preparing skid, packaging finished product, assisting line operator, and general plant housekeeping.
Work Environment & Expectations: Full-time, 36-48 hours/week plus extra hours as required. 12-hour shifts, receiving two paid 15 minute breaks and one 30 minute lunch. The work environment is often very hot and the noise level is usually very loud.
Skill Requirements: Possess the ability to read, write, and communicate clearly with supervisor and co-workers. Must be able to follow directions from Assistant Supervisor, Supervisors and Operators. Ability to use and read a measuring tape. Must have good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Safety & Quality Requirements: Follow all safety and conduct rules at all times; always wearing the required PPE for the job. Keep work and surrounding areas clean and free of debris at all times. All employees are expected to work diligently to maintain safe and healthful working conditions and to adhere to proper operating practices and procedures designed to prevent injuries and illnesses.
General Duties & Responsibilities:
Monitor sheet stacks on the automatic stackers and occasionally stack sheets by hand.
Packaging of finished goods for up to 2 lines at a time, which includes: preparing skids, wrapping finished skids, and banding as required. Apply labels appropriately to finished skids. Cut cores and corner boards as needed.
Monitor finished product quality and keep line operator informed of any changes.
Assist operator with start-ups and job changeovers, including preplanning and clean-up. Record accurate weights and give information to operator in a timely manner.
Weigh and record reclaim weights using the barcode system and apply tags to reclaim containers appropriately.
Keep work area clean and organized at all times, and clean surrounding areas as time allows.
Assist in training probationary employees and assist other employees as time permits.
Perform other duties as assigned.
