Position: Teacher of Students with Disabilities
Location: Princeton, NJ
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: $58,000 – $61,000/year
We are seeking a passionate Teacher of Students with Disabilities to support the educational and behavioral growth of students with special needs, particularly those with autism. This role includes collaborating with BCBAs, paraprofessionals, and families to implement individualized programs, track progress through data collection, and ensure a structured, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized, data-driven instruction aligned with IEP goals in academics, communication, social-emotional, and daily living skills.
- Collaborate with BCBAs and paraprofessionals to plan lessons, adapt materials, and implement behavior support programs.
- Maintain organized and engaging classroom materials; promote a positive, well-structured learning space.
- Collect, graph, and analyze student data; adjust instruction to ensure skill acquisition.
- Communicate regularly with families through meetings and home visits to support student progress and training.
- Participate in IEP meetings and team collaboration to ensure program consistency.
- Implement motivational strategies, reinforcement systems, and crisis interventions as needed.
- Maintain classroom safety, cleanliness, and functional learning equipment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, Education, or related field (required)
- NJ Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) endorsement or CE/CEAS (required)
- Valid driver’s license (required)
- Experience with IEPs, behavioral strategies, and instructional data analysis
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Ability to follow instructional plans and adapt to students' needs
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Active classroom setting with frequent movement, including lifting up to 40 lbs
- Requires bending, standing, squatting, and responding to physical needs of students
- Occasional home visits and interaction with students exhibiting challenging behaviors
