JOB TITLE: R&D Lab Technician
Department: Solutions

Summary:
The R&D Lab Technician creates premix samples for customer evaluation. In addition, the R&D Lab Technician I will evaluate raw materials and perform specification testing when applicable. The R&D Technician I will work with the R&D Technician II/Lead the laboratory in day-to-day operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
- Creates sample premix blends based upon work orders and instructions and direction provided by R catalogs retained samples
- Perform certain testing on premix sample and record results in the systems.
- Maintain sample warehouse inventory including receipts and transfers
- Responsible for managing and recording environmental data.
- Work in production to run small blender work orders.

Required Education and/or Experience:
- Education Requirements:
- Associates degree or equivalent in a scientific discipline
- OR High School Diploma and 1 years’ experience in a related work environment
- Knowledge of metric system required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Thorough understanding of unit conversions
- Ability to make educated judgments on correctness, accuracy, and appropriateness of information. Must be able to organize, and prioritize and make decisions.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Contact Management systems; Database software; Inventory software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Must be comfortable collecting data.

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Work environment is normally in an office setting. Must be able to make frequent rounds in a warehouse environment
- Ability to view a computer screen and type for extended hours
- Other physical requirements include moderate standing and occasional squatting, bending, and twisting
- Ability to stand for an extended periods of time
- Must be able to wear any required PPE such as scrubs, hair net, lab coat, and facemask
- Ability to work in a packaging area with a moderate powder substance in the air with or without a respirator
- Ability to work around a variety of different smells and aromas
- Ability to adjust work schedule as business needs require.
