National Gypsum Company is a fully integrated manufacturer and supplier of building and construction products worldwide including Gold Bond® BRAND gypsum wallboard, ProForm® BRAND joint treatment products and PermaBase® BRAND cement board.

We have an immediate opening for a Maintenance Technician,_ at our *Interior Finishing Product Plant in Orlando Florida. This position will report to the Maintenance Supervisor._*

Job Summary:

National Gypsum has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Technician in Orlando, FL. In this position, the ideal candidate will be responsible for performing troubleshooting and repair techniques on manufacturing equipment, electrical/electronic and mechanical systems. The individual will also analyze, troubleshoot, build, maintain, repair and/or design complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, as well as complex computer operating systems.

Major Job Responsibilities (not all inclusive):

  • Responsible for keeping safety first for you and your fellow co-workers.
  • Complete all safety and or quality training as required.
  • Notify Lead Operator and or Supervisor of any unsafe acts and conditions.
  • Provide maintenance & repair support to all departments.
  • Performs preventative maintenance utilizing company PM program
  • Must have determination to not just fix the breakdown, glitch, or malfunction but maintain focus to determine the root cause.
  • Strong electrical and fabrication skills with an ability to engineer and design solutions for process changes and must be able to use electrician’s tools and read electrical blueprints
  • Strong working knowledge of PLC programming (preferably RS Logix 5000) and troubleshooting
  • Determine corrective action necessary to minimize downtime, increase productivity, and maintain continuity of operations.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years industrial maintenance experience
  • Demonstrate a clear focus on safety as the main priority of the job
  • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting, and mechanical skills and demonstrated ability to determine root cause of equipment failure
  • Positive attitude toward change and the ability to adapt and relate to the work environment and the associates
  • The ability to organize and prioritize repairs
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) are vital in maintaining an open and friendly working climate
  • Willingness and ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities
  • Ability to enforce all plant safety policies and procedures
  • Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Ability to work off hours if required to maintain the up-time of the production line
  • Self-directed individual.
  • Good safety record.
  • Experience using a personal computer with a Windows operating system and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work without assistance and direction in performing duties
  • Must be able to climb ladders and perform overhead work
  • Can promote and maintain a TEAM atmosphere
  • Understands importance of serving internal customers
  • Must be able to lift up to 65 lbs.

COVID-19 considerations:

Experience:

  • Programmable Logic Controllers: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Welding: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Blueprint reading: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Pneumatic: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Industrial maintenance: 2 years (Required)
  • Electrical experience: 1 year (Preferred)

Language:

  • English (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Certification and or license (Preferred)

Shift availability:

  • Day Shift (Required)
  • Night Shift (Required)
