Progressive Life Center, Inc. (PLC), a private, non-profit human services agency, provides an array of community-based services to youth and their families within the Washington, D.C.; Baltimore, MD; Prince George’s County and Montgomery County, MD; Philadelphia, PA; and Newark, DE areas. PLC’s core service areas are child welfare, juvenile justice, and behavioral health. A sample of programs and services include foster care and adoptions, kinship care, family preservation, independent living, case management, juvenile diversion, parenting training, individual and family counseling, and substance abuse prevention.
Program Summary
The Kinship Care program assists families caring for related children by providing financial and social assistance. Often the families in Kinship Care come together by happenstance rather than as a result of a plan or particular choice. This particular program targets relative caregivers who have opted to preserve their families as opposed to have them enter the foster care system. The program provides needed supportive services, linkages and case management so caregivers can continue to care for their relative children.
Position Description:
The Case Manager position requires the incumbent to provide relevant crisis intervention, advocacy service and referrals, and counseling.
The Case Manager will be responsible maintaining a caseload of 8-10 families; providing case management and linking families to follow-up services; providing family/individual counseling; providing in-home services; and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, education or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
- Two (2) years related field experience.
- Good writing skills.
- Must have own transportation.
- Bilingual a Plus.
