Teacher – Hope Academy

Job Description:

As a member of Project Hope Foundation (PHF), a Teacher in Hope Academy leads a classroom of academic programs for students and reports to the Education Coordinator. The Hope Academy Teacher manages and oversees the teaching of Hope Academy’s academic curriculum providing a productive learning environment for students, ensuring the progress of students. This role interacts with internal departments, central and clinical, colleagues and families, providing input, communication and support that aligns with the organization’s mission, vision and goals.

Standard school day hours are 8:25 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Job Responsibilities:

• Teaches the academic and social skill lesson progression of the classroom for the duration of the school year
• Creates and maintains lesson plans (weekly) and implements lessons based on Hope Academy’s academic curriculum, with input and approval from the administration
• Collaborates with clinical staff to develop and implement a classroom management system that is in line with the principles of ABA and reinforces desired classroom behaviors
• Develops individualized academic goals to be implemented during group and differentiated instruction
• Conducts formal and informal assessments to collect data that is used to guide instruction and monitor individual student progress.
• Collaborates closely with clinical staff to monitor progress of each student’s skill acquisition goals as well as maintenance and generalization of goals mastered during one-on-one sessions
• Reviews academic data frequently to ensure ongoing alignment to academic and clinical goals
• Provides quarterly progress reports and report cards to parents, Hope Reach teams and Hope Academy administration
• Collects and records attendance and assessment data, including individual student progress monitoring
• Leads quarterly parent-teacher conferences to discuss student progress
• Schedules field trips and outings according to approved schedule and guidelines from the administration
• Leads special school activities and program preparation (holiday, end-of-year, etc.)
• Monitors communication with the clinical team to ensure targeted maladaptive behavior and Behavior Intervention Plans for individual students are being addressed as written
• Implements classroom instruction as planned, delegating clinical tasks (prompting, reinforcement, and problem behavior reduction) to clinical colleagues, as needed
• Provides reports and updates to assigned classroom BCBA, Education Coordinator and clinical Senior Supervisor, as requested
• Contributes ideas and suggestions to increase and maintain student progress and engagement
• Develops and nurtures relationships with students, faculty, colleagues, and families
• Acts as a representative of PHF when in public and when interacting with students and families
• Collaborates and coordinates with all internal program leadership associated with PHF
• Other duties as requested

Job Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree, in Education preferred
• Teaching Certification preferred, Special Education, desired
• 1-3 years of teaching experience or related
• RBT certification or experience with high magnitude problem behavior, preferred
• Ability to create and implement academic lesson plans, goals, assessments and systems for students
• Experience creating student evaluations, measurement criteria and reports
• Experience fostering new and existing student and family relationships
• Ability to prioritize and carry out multiple tasks and projects in a changing work environment
• Available to work standard work hours and lead parent teacher conferences when scheduled outside of the standard work day, based on scheduling availability for all required parties
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Able to successfully be trained in a variety of data collection platforms; proficient Google Suite
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and actively engage with children in multiple settings
• Positive attitude and ability to work within a team environment
