Job Summary: The Staff Attorney’s duties include research, analysis and writing about complex legal issues, inclusive of all activities required for service delivery within the scope of the contract/program (as defined by the funder).
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Demonstrated commitment to public interest law and social justice;
- Able to work well with clients from disadvantage backgrounds and variety of demographics;
- Able to issue-spot and judge the merits of potential client cases and work to resolve if within the scope of service currently in effect;
- Perform factual and legal research and analysis on a variety of legal issues;
- Prepare written legal arguments, documents and correspondence;
- Provide clients with counseling and assistance to ensure maintenance of housing and other government benefits;
- Represent clients in administrative hearings;
- Conduct client outreach, including facilitating educational workshops and trainings;
- Conduct client intakes;
- Able to work closely in congenial manner with other departmental staff and supervisors and share duties as necessary;
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress/case notes, and data tools both physically and electronically in a timely manner;
- Able to prioritize and manage time efficiently;
- Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and in-service trainings;
- Maintain confidentiality of HIV/AIDS clients as well as client information in general;
- Perform general clerical duties;
- Provide coverage for other areas as directed/needed;
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Experience and Education:
- J.D. degree and admission to the New York State Bar;
- Preferred 1-2 years of prior associate-level experience in a particular area of expertise

- Excellent written, analytical, oral, organizational, and time management skills;
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively on an interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment;
Salary : $46 - $47
