Projects Inc. is seeking an experienced CNS 3,4 &5 Axis programmer to join our team. Projects Inc. is a manufacturer of complex small, machined components for the Aerospace and Power Systems industries and has been in business for over fifty years. The qualified candidate will report directly to the Operations Manager and is responsible Developing programs that direct CNC machines to cut and shape a variety of metals to produce components for the Aerospace and Power Generation industry. In addition to programming responsibilities, the position also has responsibility for other machines as required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Experience in using Solid Works and Mastercam or GibbsCam is desired
- Ability to read engineering prints, including the ability to understand GD&T
- Develop work-holding fixtures
- Must be able to select speeds, feeds, and tooling grades for exotic metals as well as Steel and Aluminum
- Read and understand G-code
- Integrate work with Engineering, Production, Quality, Purchasing and Scheduling Department to ensure a smooth flow of quality products through the factory.
- Using 3-dimensional computer designs (CAD models) and/or blueprints that define the configuration of the required component, the CNC Programmer will use CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) software programs to generate the program code that guides CNC machines to perform machining operations that result in precise finished components.
- Use CAM software (Mastercam or GibbsCam) to generate program code that controls the operations of a CNC machines to perform a series of machining operations (rough cutting, finish cutting, shaping, pocketing, profiling, drilling, tapping, threading, etc.) to produce the required components.
- Analyze engineering instructions, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data to calculate dimensions, tool selection, machine speeds and feed rates.
- Generates program code using computer-aided-manufacturing (CAM) software, runs simulation tests, conducts quality testing and corrects/improves program code to increase efficiency, quality and safety.
- Revises programs to eliminate errors and re-tests programs to ensure problem resolution
- Observes CNC machines on trial runs or conducts computer simulations to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet specifications.
- Determine reference points, machine cutting paths and compute angular and linear dimensions, radii and curvatures.
- Compare computer printouts with original part specifications and blueprints to verify accuracy of instructions Possess a minimum of 3 years prior work experience in Quality Control Inspection or shop-related work; preferably in Aerospace Manufacturing.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- 5 years of related experience programming 3, 4 &5 axis machines
- Computer proficiency with Mastercam software
- Knowledge of probing and machine tools.
- Tool/fixture and work holding design experience.
- Ability to use drafting and/or modeling software (SolidWorks)
- Understanding of lean concepts.
- Strong desire to succeed
- Strong time management skills with the ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects. Ability to read engineering prints, including the ability to understand GD
