SUMMARY:
KinderStop Aides are responsible for the operation of the 10-month KinderStop program designed for before and after school care for 4yr old Preschool, Kindergarten, and 1st graders as well as AM and PM KinderStop for Preschool and Kindergarteners.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
The KinderStop Aide will report directly to the Supervisor of Recreation.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
KinderStop Aides shall supervise all participants in the KinderStop program, but will not directly supervise any employees.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate ability to properly supervise children’s activities.
- Lead and explain indoor and outdoor games.
- Knowledge of supplies, materials, room items, and instructional tools required for the KinderStop program.
- Follow Park District policies & procedures and use prudent judgement while supervising participants.
- Conduct 30 second Site Safety Walk Through prior to each shift.
- Abide by the 3 points of contact.
- Make recommendations for programs.
- Compliance with Illinois Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act.
- Prepare and clean up all supplies and materials needed for the program each day.
- Complete other duties or jobs assigned by the Supervisor of Recreation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Must be able to run, jump, and play games with participants.
- Must be able to sit on the floor and get up off the floor.
- Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time.
- Able to communicate tactfully and effectively with program participants, co-workers, and participants families.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist with special projects.
PSYCHOLOGICAL FUNCTIONS:
The KinderStop Aide must resolve differences and problems that arise with patrons. The KinderStop Aide is responsible for a safe work environment.
PHYSIOLOGICAL FUNCTIONS:
None
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:
May be exposed to indoor conditions which may include extreme temperatures.
COGNITIVE CONSIDERATIONS:
The ability to resolve differences fairly and with good judgment is necessary.
PAY RATES:
Starting at $14/hr

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Previous experience working with children between the ages of 4-7 years old
- Knowledge of park district programs is helpful
- Must be CPR/AED/First Aid certified within 6 months of hire (paid training provided by the park district)
