Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Yard Driver for our Dearborn, Wayne, and Canton locations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers within the yard, ensuring that all operations run smoothly. This role requires a strong understanding of various types of trucks and trailers, as well as the ability to operate equipment safely in a busy environment.
Duties
- Safely maneuver and position refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, roll-off trucks, and dump trucks within the yard.
- Conduct routine inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Operate manual transmission vehicles with proficiency.
- Assist in loading and unloading materials as needed using a forklift.
- Maintain accurate records of trailer movements and deliveries.
- Collaborate with dispatchers and other team members to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations while operating equipment in the yard.
Qualifications
- CDL-A Certified
- 1 Year Switching experience
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, roll-off trucks, dump trucks, and route driving is advantageous.
- Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles effectively.
- Forklift certification is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety practices.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
You will be expected to move trailers around the yard and in and out of docks. Shift times are as follows
-B Crew-Tuesday through Friday 6 pm to 430 am.
-C Crew-Friday and Saturday 6 am to 430 pm Sunday and Monday 6 pm to 430 am.
Pay will start at $23/hr. Will increase to $24 after 30 days. This is a temp to hire position that is paid weekly (on Fridays). Overtime after 40 hours worked
