What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Coordinator position at Proto Labs Inc?
Job Purpose:
The person will be responsible for reviewing quoted parts for CNC Machining to ensure that all criteria can be met and that it fits within the business model for production.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review all drawings, models, specifications, and or other customer documentation related to quoted work
- Build and/or make changes to routers for the production floor
- Update models or prints when revision changes occur
- Interface with all aspects of CNC Machining, engineering, quality, manufacturing, customer service, estimating and other personnel as required
- Contact customers concerning discrepancies with models and prints. Other discrepancies such as plating, ink, hardware, or other issues as warranted
- Set up jobs for all incoming returns
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Minimal qualifications required in order to be considered for entry into the job
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be able to understand and interpret machining blueprints
- Must be able to learn and use company’s MRP and ERP systems (JobBoss)
- Be flexible and willing to tackle new challenges and have a positive “can-do" attitude
- Must be able to solve problems that arise without direct supervision while also performing as part of a team
- High attention to details
- Ability to manage time and prioritize work in an effective manner
- Average ability to use SolidWorks
- Basic knowledge of Machining (CNC and/or Manual) as well as basic knowledge of manufacturing
- Familiarity and skill with the tools of the trade Microsoft Office suite of products (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Physical Demands:
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use a computer keyboard, monitor and mouse, telephone and printer; reach with hands, and arms, talk, see and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop or kneel and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment:
Indoors (A/C); nonsmoking; the majority of this job function is performed in an office setting requiring normal safety precautions. However, there may be job duties that require the employee to spend time in the manufacturing areas exposed to machinery and noise; eye protection occasionally required. Occasionally works in outside weather conditions. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
