What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping/Receiving Manager position at Prototech Laser?
Principle Responsibilities
- Trains, advises, answers questions and counsels fellow co-workers on current shipping and receiving procedures, E2 functions, and warehouse functions.
- Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
- Possess the ability to gain respect, inspire, and motivate the efforts of fellow co-workers.
- Meets management established service goals.
- Develops work schedules and assigns work to shipping personnel.
- Assists with design and implementation of work methods and operational procedures for activities, such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current.
- Inspects physical condition of warehouse equipment, prepares requests for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment.
- Completes related computer entries and documentation in E2.
- Unloads supplies, materials, and finished goods at appropriate area (receiving or plant) and moves them to production or storage areas carefully and safely.
- Ensure incoming material is transferred from receiving location to home location in a timely manner while maintaining proper location control.
- Ensures the tidiness and overall presentation of the shop, warehouse floor, and yard are kept in good order.
- Identifies non-conforming material and communicates and corrects as necessary.
- Conducts quality checks as required for incoming and outgoing material and product.
- Ensures that receiving functions are completed in accordance with Company standards and procedures.
- Ensure the company’s safety policies, procedures, and quality standards are followed.
- Checks receipts for proper quantities and item numbers.
- Verifies and packs orders for staging for shipment.
- Conducts cycle counts and inventory accuracy of material according to PLI policy. Ensures that all goods are appropriately packaged and labeled before and during storage.
- Champions continuous improvement and lean activities.
- Recommends and participates in inventory reorganization activities.
- Schedule pick-ups and delivery of goods as needed, daily company truck runs.
- Completes special projects as assigned.
- Cross training as required by management to work cross-functionally to satisfy customer requirements.
- Willingness to assist and support others.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of E2 Shop System is beneficial
- PC application knowledge and shipping documentation experience.
- Understanding of inventory control and management procedures.
- Well-organized and attentive to detail. Strong interpersonal skills. Email etiquette.
- Integrity with ability to keep information confidential.
- Experience operating a Hilo/fork truck
- Knowledge of receiving procedures and standards.
- Understanding of related computer applications.
- Physical Strength – must be able to frequently lift/push/pull objects that are 40 pounds or lighter.
Education/Certification:
High school graduate.
Work Experience
Three years of equivalent experience.
Previous Hilo/forktruck experience required.

Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
