Director of Donor Development

General Purpose of Position:

The Director of Donor Development creates and executes a comprehensive strategic plan that encompasses donor acquisition and retention and that integrates all areas of cultivation including digital, direct mail, and face-to-face meetings. This role is key in funding the mission of Proverbs 31 Ministries that women will know and live out the truth of God’s Word - because that changes everything.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop a strategic plan to ensure the long-term growth of fundraising and guard the donor experience at Proverbs 31 Ministries.
• Set the annual budget of over $4M income for all fundraising efforts; and adjust budget forecasts as appropriate to reflect actual income and expenses.
• Cultivate a portfolio of 40 major donors to include charting plans and timetable for each prospect to include cultivation, involvement, solicitation, and appropriate acknowledgement.
• Ensure the P31 story and impact is consistently and accurately communicated to donors, including through the annual impact report.
• Develop a comprehensive donor communications plan and collaborate with the promotional copywriter on the development and writing of content.
• Write marketing plans for donor campaigns working closely with the Marketing Team.
• Identify new fundraising channels (such as texting, responsive fundraising, etc) and suggest strategies that harness these established and emergent marketing opportunities.
• Lead strategy and execution of print and digital campaigns for fundraising, donor engagement and new donor acquisition.
• Provide visionary leadership for fundraising events and activities to ensure goals are met and experience is on brand for the P31 Donor Experience.
• Speak at events and for various initiatives including but not limited to: livestream events, in-person events, video recordings etc.
• Lead the ongoing growth and development of the Donor team (five direct reports).
• Oversee moves management process and recurring giving program.

• Employ industry-wide concepts and best practices in campaign planning, strategy and implementation. Keep informed of ECFA Standards and AFP trends.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 5 years fundraising and/or high level sales experience with proven success record or business experience. CFRE designation a plus.
• Fundraising experience must include a positive track record in annual fund and major gifts solicitation with success in securing five and/or six figure gifts.
• Experience in the design and implementation of inbound and digital marketing strategies a plus.
• Knowledge of the local community and not-for-profit sector is highly desired.
• Successful applicant must demonstrate an ability to independently develop and implement strategies and sustain donor relationships over time.

Knowledge/Skills:

• Deep, unapologetic Christian faith demonstrated.
• Understanding of and commitment to the mission of Proverbs 31 Ministries.
• Ability to effectively communicate our mission & vision through one-on-one interactions and public speaking opportunities; exceptional oral & written communication skills.
• Strong project management skills ie. ability to manage time, details and multiple projects well.
• Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
• Basic understanding/knowledge of CRM non-profit software and other fundraising technology. Virtuous experience a plus.

• Attendance and participation at events, often requiring long periods of standing
• Occasional weekend and/or irregular hours
• Travel up to 10%
