PRYER Aerospace is hiring for a Full Time Toolmaker for the Claremore plant. PRYER Aerospace is a leading provider of structural components, assemblies and kits to the aerospace industry. We specialize in the fabrication of complex sheet metal and machined components for commercial, corporate and military aircraft.
Perform the process of tool making, repair, and rework in support of the manufacturing process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Machine and assemble work-holding fixtures using conventional machining shop processes including milling, turning, and grinding.
- Fabricate soft tools through fiberglass or plaster layup techniques. Must be able to execute and manage tool coordination through soft tool development to ensure tool control features and media are maintained.
- Collaborate with the tool designer to optimize designs for functionality and producibility.
- Work to blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions to repair and maintain dies, mill fixtures, and assembly tooling.
- Verifies conformance of machined tools to specifications using measuring instruments (dial indicators, gauge blocks, thickness gauges, micrometers, etc.).
- Support production department with tooling needs; respond to shop-floor calls in a timely manner.
- Performs preventative maintenance on all tools and dies.
- Performs general maintenance as needed on all tools and dies.
- Assess complex tooling and equipment needs and refurbish as required.
- Troubleshoot and solve tooling problems without assistance.
- Set up and operate all tool room equipment with no assistance.
- Work to continuously improve tooling and reduce scrap.
- Ability to lead continuous improvement and emergency repair projects individually or within a team.
- Must be willing to share knowledge of the trade and train apprentices.
- Assure safe operation and care of tool room equipment.
- Support the company and department business goals and objectives for Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety and Attitude (QCDSA).

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience utilizing basic hand/power tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Basic Quality Requirements/ISO Awareness.
- Experience with Forklift Operations.
- At least 2 years of experience in wet lay-up of fiberglass in such applications as aircraft.
- Ability to do basic mathematical equations and apply math concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as blue prints, engineering drawings and sketches.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Basic computer skills
