Position Summary
Reporting to Site Sustainability & Environmental Manager, the Health & Safety Manager leads in the development and execution of health and safety initiatives in partnership with facility leadership for two separate manufacturing sites located on same campus. The Health & Safety Manager will provide oversight and assistance in the development, implementation and coordination of health and safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.

Job Objectives/Initiatives
- Industrial Hygiene: Continuously assess industrial hygiene risks. Communicate risks to management and develop plans for risk reduction or elimination.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain and develop as necessary, site-specific EHS policies and procedures. Support and implement EH&S programs as they relate to site chemical, equipment, and environmental risks.
- Risk Management: Advise management in OSHA, ANSI, NFPA and other applicable EHS standards. Assist in responding to regulatory inspections, agency requests, and insurers on EHS matters. Continuously review and improve procedures, action plans, and hazard analyses.
- Communication: Partners with Corporate HSE, other Site Leaders, and facility teams to develop strategies and execute plans in response to key H&S initiatives to promote a Zero & Beyond culture. Ensure key stakeholders are aware of regulatory matters that arise. Promote site environmental, health and safety, and address new developments for improvement.
- Workers Compensation: Work to reduce WC incidents by taking proactive action to minimize injury risks. Investigate serious cases and lost-time accidents to avoid reoccurrence. Understand company accident statistics, and communicate with the organization to ensure best practices are in place.
- Facility Evaluations: Participate in periodic audits to measure EHS performance, set goals, and summarize results for recommended action. Understand the safety function and administer emergency action plans. Arrange employee and supervisory training and surveying when necessary.
- Safety and Environmental Audits: Participate in site audits and review sample results in order to support management in their resolution. Promote speedy resolution to unacceptable findings. Partner with Environmental and Quality Managers to ensure ongoing compliance with Integrated management Systems (9001, 14001, 45001).
- Risk Management: Evaluate work requests and recommendations to improve plant facilities and worker safety. Meet with agencies where advisable or where their actions might affect facility operations. Promote corporate efforts in compliance with OSHA, EPA, or state agencies.
- Safety Committee: Lead the safety committee, monitoring their success to assure responsive action to EHS matters.
- Training: Prepare, Coordinate, and/or deliver site-specific operator training in required regulatory topics, and best management practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Preferred CIH or CSP
- Minimum of five years' experience in a safety managerial role or a senior safety professional role
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Thorough knowledge of practices and methods for developing and administering comprehensive EHS programs
- Experience with Workers Compensation Case Management
- Proficiency in performing workplace hazard assessments and implementing mitigating control measures.
- Effective presentation and communication skills
- Strong knowledge of MS Office Products
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma practices
