What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marine Operations Superintendent position at PSA Penn Terminals?
The Marine Operations Superintendent will supervise vessel work teams, ensuring that they perform their jobs safely and efficiently. The Superintendent will also communicate vessel operation sequences and stevedoring requirements to various operational personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
➢ Supervise and plan activities prior to the ship coming into port.
➢ Supervise the labor for vessel loading and unloading, in accordance with the operational plans.
➢ Ensure that each gang is organized and productive
➢ Ensure that labor is following safe working practices and standard operating procedures.
➢ Follow all company management policies and collective bargaining provisions when supervising a job.
➢ Identify and solve problems and issues on a daily basis.
➢ Report problems and issues to the appropriate Manager in a timely manner.
➢ Provide primary leadership for the workforce in each assigned task.
➢ All other duties as assigned
Requirements:
➢ BS/BA degree in Management, Transportation, Logistics, or equivalent experience working in management.
➢ 2-5 years managing union labor.
➢ Thorough knowledge of Marine Terminal operations.
➢ Experience with computerized operating systems.
➢ Must read, write, and communicate professionally.
➢ Knowledge of workplace safety and accident prevention regulations.
➢ Knowledge and understanding of cargo stowage and stability preferred.
Pay Range: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
