Senior Technical Designer

Women's fashion industry leader seeking a Sr. Technical Designer for Elevated Sport Apparel!

Onsite 4 days/week Manhattan NY

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Designer to join our Elevated Sport Apparel department. This individual contributor role is critical in executing the technical design process from initial development to the final fit of our products. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and experience in garment fit, construction, and grading, particularly within the women's sport apparel sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute the technical design process from initial development through to final fit.
• Analyze and evaluate garments to develop accurate fit specifications.
• Ensure products are developed in line with established fit quality standards, manufacturer capabilities, and cost specifications.
• Develop detailed technical specifications and communicate fit requirements to vendors and factories for approvals and corrections.
• Make necessary adjustments with factories to maintain the integrity of design-approved prototypes while monitoring quality and targeted price.
• Collaborate closely with the Technical Services Manager to ensure alignment with overall departmental goals.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion or equivalent experience.
• 7-10 years of technical experience in garment fit and garment construction, with a specific focus on women's sport apparel.
• Proficient in technical specification programs, particularly Centric.
• Extensive knowledge of pattern making, garment construction, fit, and grading.
• In-depth understanding of factory environments, manufacturing techniques, and machinery specific to sport apparel and bras.

Skills and Experience:

• Strong technical education or equivalent work experience in garment fit and construction, especially related to women’s sport apparel.
• Significant experience in sports bras and structured bras, including pad development, pad correction, and compression fitting knowledge.
• Ability to work on a wide range of products including bras, pants, tops, jackets, sweaters, skirts, and dresses, across both knit and woven fabrics.
• Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical specifications and fit requirements to vendors and factories.
