Entry-Level Assistant Environmental Scientist
Location: Portland, Maine or Wallingford, Connecticut or Newton, Massachusetts

Fleet Vehicle: Provided for work-related travel only (vehicle must remain at office when not in use)
Overview:
A leading environmental services team is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Environmental Scientist to support permitting and compliance activities across a range of infrastructure and utility projects. This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals with a strong interest in environmental regulations, fieldwork, and technical reporting.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist with environmental field studies, including data collection and site surveys for project planning and compliance.
- Support the preparation of environmental reports, impact statements, and permit applications.
- Help analyze field data and integrate findings into mapping tools using GIS.
- Participate in erosion control evaluations, site investigations, and soil sampling tasks.
- Contribute to environmental compliance audits and ensure alignment with applicable regulations.
- Assist with documentation required under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
- Maintain a high standard of safety while working both in the field and office settings.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the project team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or a closely related discipline.
- 1–2 years of relevant experience in environmental consulting or compliance (no more than 2 years; this role is strictly entry-level).
- Familiarity with environmental permitting processes and site assessment practices.
- Basic working knowledge of ArcGIS and GPS field tools.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet driving standards (Motor Vehicle Record check required).
- Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills.
