What are the responsibilities and job description for the RESEARCH DATA ANALYST II position at Public Employees Retirement System?
This position will run until filled with the following cutoff dates for review: 12/13/2024, 12/28/2024, 1/12/2025, and every two weeks until filled.
Anticipated Interview Dates: Interviews will be conducted in a two-step process. Virtual written exercises are anticipated to be held the week of December 30, 2024, and in person interviews are anticipated to be held the week of January 13, 2025.
Telework Information: This position is eligible for hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days onsite at the Sacramento, CA Headquarters per week.

The Policy Research & Data Analytics (PRDA) Division provides research, guidance, and data analytics to inform retirement-related issues and business decisions. PRDA employs research data techniques to assess the impact of potential retirement policy changes and sustainability of benefits and services, and continuously improve business processes.
Under the general supervision of the Research Data Supervisor II, Lean Operations & Research Analytics, the Research Data Analyst (RDA) II is responsible for designing and conducting iterative research projects and assignments. The RDA II has intermediate knowledge of and experience using a variety of research, analytical, and statistical methods and techniques used in data analysis and to provide comprehensive research. The RDA II manages workload consisting of iterative projects and assignments, completes work under critical timelines to meet project requirements, and writes clear and concise studies and reports. The RDA II exercises a high degree of independence, initiative, flexibility, and tact in performing the duties listed and may perform other team assignments as required and appropriate for this level.

Working Conditions
- This position is designated as office-centered and works primarily onsite at the Sacramento, CA -Headquarters at least three weekdays.
- Workstation is on the 5th floor accessible by stairs and elevator, in a standard office building with artificial light and adjustable office chairs.
- Prolonged reading, typing and data analysis on a laptop, keyboard, and computer screen.
- Various time-critical assignments are part of the typical workload.

- Knowledge of basic process improvement principles

- Project management skills sufficient to lead enterprise-wide projects of varying complexity and work on multiple projects simultaneously with varying deadlines
- Ability to apply creative and critical thinking skills to problem resolution
- Ability to act independently and take initiative and be proactive in planning and scoping out projects assigned
