Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist

| BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB |
Performs diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing appropriate ultrasonic equipment to produce high frequency sound waves which create diagnostic images of the human body for use in diagnosis of disease or organ malfunctions.

Duties:
- Greet, accept and prepare the patient for US procedures. Other modalities may apply if certified.
- Assess and document patient’s condition to determine proper handling and special requirements.
- Check requisition for physician notes and/or special instructions.
- Instruct and assist patients in assuming physical position for appropriate test.
- Ensure positive experience for the patient while at any PMI facility and uphold company objective for patient satisfaction.
- Adhere to procedure protocols as established by the Medical Director and/or physician performing a procedure.
- Execute high quality procedures as ordered from referring physicians.
- Enforce US safety procedures to provide a safe environment for patients and staff. Safety procedures for other modalities may apply if certified.
- Maintain US equipment/rooms in proper working condition. Multiple modalities may apply. Report malfunction and necessary repairs to manager.
- Performs other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Physical Demands:
- Standing - This position frequently requires standing for frequently for patient assessment, positioning patient for procedure, communicating with all facility personnel, faxing, copying and completing other job-related duties.
- Walking - This position consistently requires walking short distances of up to 100 yards to communicate with patients, staff, doctors, vendors, and direct report.
- Sitting - This position consistently requires sitting to configure and enter data needed for electronic medical charts, diagnostic procedures on a RIS and PACS computer system and other essential job duties.
- Lifting - This position consistently requires lifting objects weighing a minimum of 50 lbs. to carry out essential job duties and deal with patients with physical disabilities and/or disorders.
- Carrying - This position occasionally requires carrying objects weighing up a maximum of 50 lbs. for short distances to carry out essential job-related duties.
- Pushing - This position occasionally requires pushing objects weighing a maximum of 50 lbs.
- Pulling - This position occasionally requires pulling objects weighing a maximum of 50 lbs. to assist patients while at the facility for a required procedure and/or perform various job-related functions.
- Reaching - This position frequently requires reaching with hands and arms approximately 3 ft. all directions to assist patients while at the facility for a required procedure and/or perform various job-related functions.
- Handing - This position frequently requires handing paper, clipboards or objects to patients, staff, doctors, and vendors to carry out essential job duties.

- Bending - This position frequently requires bending/leaning from the waist in all directions to carry out essential job duties.
- Kneeling - This position frequently requires kneeling to assist patients or carry out essential job duties.
- Speaking - This position consistently requires excellent verbal abilities to communicate with patients, co- workers, doctors, and vendors on a daily basis.
- Hearing - This position consistently requires auditory abilities to efficiently listen to patients, doctors, vendors, co-workers, and staff to carry out essential job duties.
- Seeing - This position consistently requires acute visual abilities to conduct requested medical procedures, see the computer to enter patient data and document necessary information to become part of the patient’s electronic chart, read patient related documents, physician requests, and other job- related paperwork to carry out essential job duties.

Explanation: This position is minimally monitored by the Director of Radiology.
Does this position have supervisory responsibility (i.e. responsible for hiring, firing, performance appraisals, etc.)? No
Does this position have access to confidential information? Yes
Explanation: This position has access to confidential information such as social security numbers, dates of birth, and HIPAA information for all patients seen at the outpatient facility.
Does this position have access to or handle company funds? No
Is it important to this position the incumbent be able to communicate fluently in English? Yes
Explanation: A majority of affiliated personnel and patients communicate with our business in English. Bilingual abilities are preferred.
What kind of work experience (including length of time), training, and/or level of education is necessary for this position? This position requires a minimum of 2-3 years of previous US experience. This position requires RDMS and RVT for US credentialing. Experience and certification in multiple modalities are preferred.
List any technical skills (typing, computer skills, etc.): The skills required by this position include, but are not limited to, typing, computer literacy, faxing, scanning, copying, and knowledge of data entry on a RIS and PACS system.
What other special training and/or abilities are necessary to qualify for this position? The person that fills this position must be able to read, write, understand and interpret reports and correspondence. The candidate must have problem solving and analytical skills to interpret physician requests and relay procedure results to facility physicians. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills needed for daily interpersonal communication with patients, staff, vendors, doctors, and direct report.
Working Conditions
Are there particular working conditions associated with this position that should be noted (i.e., working environment, hours of work, travel, work space, etc.)? Yes
Explanation: The working environment is in a medical office setting that can be moderately loud at times because of the machinery. This position will carry out his/her duties in an average sized workspace. This position requires traveling to all Company facilities. The hours of work may vary depending on the necessity of the facility. Working overtime and weekends may be required.
Qualifications
| MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS |
- 2-3 years of previous US experience.
- ARDMS and RVT for US credentialing or be registry eligible.
- Ability to do essential job duties.
- Ability to read, understand, speak, and follow English instructions. Bilingual preferred.
- Display superior interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients and peers
- Possess a superior knowledge of US procedures and techniques.
- Must have complete competency in standard precautions, aseptic technique, venipuncture, and contrast administration.
