Job Summary: To provide Department direction and supervision for water, wastewater, roads and solid waste. Position also responsible to keep water and wastewater systems in compliance with EPA. Coordination of Consultants and Contractors for maintaining budgets and protecting the Pueblo’s interest is required.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Supervision of PIA Department employees. Ensure compliance with Pueblo HR, procurement and other policies.
• Direct construction and operation and maintenance staff on proper techniques and safety requirements.
• Maintain compliance with EPA for water and wastewater systems and solid waste disposal
• Provide utility direction for maintenance, testing and expansion.
• Communicate directly for the Pueblo’s infrastructure interests with BIA, FHWA, IHS, EPA and other outside agencies.
• Provide presentations to Administration and Tribal Council as needed.
• Budget the Public Improvement Authority Department and individual projects as needed.
• Subject to on-call duties for emergency situations.
• Pursue grants for infrastructure improvements and expansion.
• Ensure close communication with the Pueblo’s Tribal Historic Preservation Office on planning and groundbreaking activities.
• Work positively with other Departments and Administration and the community.

Working Conditions: Employee frequently exposed to variable weather. Work performed in unclean areas and unpleasant odors. Person works around hazardous conditions (chemicals, gases, slippery areas and heavy equipment). Physically demanding work and noise level are extreme to moderate.

Qualifications:

Education: BS in related field (Engineering), HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience/Basic Knowledge: Eight (8) years’ experience in continual supervisory direction in related field (construction, engineering, utilities, etc.) Knowledge of Utilities, Roads, Solid Waste and Tribal organizations. Ability to manage data with associated computer skills. Clear and concise writing skills. Good reasoning and advanced mathematics skills.

Required Licenses/Certifications: Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, Valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements: Be able to work outside for several hours, Office environment.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
