Punahou’s custodial services provide general cleaning and custodial support to over 50 educational and administrative buildings across a 76-acre campus. During the school year, the custodial team assists with the general cleaning of classrooms, offices, and facilities utilized by over 3,600 students and 600 faculty and staff daily. During the quieter periods of the summer months, they remain highly active by implementing larger changes and improvements on campus such as top-to-bottom cleaning of all rooms, office, locker rooms and other educational facilities.
Punahou School is currently seeking an Assistant Custodial Supervisor who will support the Custodial Supervisor in overseeing daily custodial operations to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for the school community. This role includes supervising and guiding custodial staff, coordinating with school stakeholders to fulfill custodial needs for events and activities, and ensuring the proper use, maintenance, and repair of custodial equipment. The Assistant Custodial Supervisor also participates in inventory management, special projects, and routine cleaning tasks ensuring a high standard of cleanliness and functionality throughout the school campus.
Position Details:
- Work Year: 12 Months
- Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Occasional after-hours/weekend work as needed, Schedule may vary based on operational needs
- Minimum Hourly Rate*: $25.00/Hour - Compensation is commensurate with qualifications.

Pay for selected candidates will be determined by various factors such as knowledge, skills, abilities, relevant training and experience, and internal equity.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree. Additional education, such as an associate degree or coursework in facilities management, business administration, or a related field, is preferred.
- Three (3) years of custodial or facilities maintenance experience.
- Two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience.
- Experience in a school, educational, or similar institutional environment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of custodial practices, procedures, and equipment use and maintenance.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel), email (Gmail), Google applications, and the internet.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations and create simple spreadsheets.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse stakeholders, including staff, faculty, and vendors.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Ability to identify and solve problems effectively and efficiently.
