The Pura Vida Merchant will play a pivotal role in connecting sales history with trend and competitive analysis to ensure that our collections will resonate with our target audience while meeting financial objectives. This position requires a keen eye for fashion trends, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

This role will work closely with the VP of Merchandising and the Merchandise and Planning Manager on the planning, development, and execution of the Pura Vida merchandise strategy. This role involves analyzing sales and market trends and making data-driven decisions to optimize product assortment, pricing, and inventory levels. The goal is to maximize sales and profitability while ensuring that the merchandise aligns with the company's brand and customer expectations. This role will support the strategic link between the product team and our cross functional partners in design, marketing, product development, planning and all channel leaders. Specifically, this role will support the product needs of the wholesale channel.

This position is based out of the Pura Vida Headquarters in La Jolla, California. (Hybrid schedule: reporting to office Tuesday - Thursday and working remotely on Monday and Friday.)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Assortment Planning

• Perform robust hind sighting each season to inform go forward product direction.
• Lead the charge on analyzing competitors’ product offerings and emerging trend reports.
• Participate in merchandising strategies and creation of seasonal assortment line plans to build profitable assortments that will meet internal margin goals.
• Partner with VP Merchandising on seasonal line plan creation and manage the documentation of assortment throughout the development process.

Business Reporting & Analysis

• Assist in monitoring weekly sales, analyzing style performance and market trends to better understand channel specific needs and opportunities. Manage the display of product selling in office each week.
• Learn to understand the target customers by shopping retail stores and websites and providing competitive analysis to enhance brand strategies and opportunities.
• Assist the VP of Merchandising in maintaining the Product GTM calendar to ensure timely completion of all deliverables across all departments within Asana.

Sample Management

• Create a system to display best-selling styles weekly and maintain store set requirements in office. Manage the ordering and organization of all merchant samples.
• Organize, maintain, and prepare samples for merchant presentations and requests from business partners.
• Manage and organize the sample archive.

Wholesale Product and Asset Creation

• Partner with the wholesale team to develop a true understanding of their customer’s needs in terms of product, information, and selling support.
• Assort and develop wholesale exclusive product seasonally.
• Project manage the wholesale catalog seasonally, partnering with the wholesale, creative, and marketing teams. Collaborate with the creative team on product descriptions, layout, and image selection.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree
• 2 years merchandising/buying background required; Jewelry and Accessories experience a plus, planning experience a plus
• A keen eye for fashion and trend and great attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to set initiatives and deliver results while maintaining a positive attitude
• Self-motivated and organized with a strong work ethic and ability to excel in a fast-paced office environment managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and interpersonal
• Strong skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point required
• Experience with Asana preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
