Manufacturing Engineer
Performs a variety of process and industrial engineering responsibilities focused on improving the productivity of the manufacturing operations. Provides leadership for new product launches by supporting the manufacturing portion of the new product development process. Responsible for designing and laying out new manufacturing processes. Leads continuous improvement activities for existing processes to achieve improved efficiency, capacity utilization, product quality, and coworker safety.
What you will do:
Supports the new product development process by providing preliminary cost estimates of new products, participating in pre-production trial runs to establish process parameters, routings, and bills of material. Recommends changes to process and product specifications based on manufacturability observed in the trial runs.
Designs efficient manufacturing processes following lean principles for new product launches. Studies existing capacity and capabilities to specify the appropriate new equipment and/or modifications to existing equipment for new products.
Develops process flow, equipment/process layouts, and capital requirements for new products.
Works with mechanical engineers to specify, procure, and set-up new or modified equipment and manufacturing processes.
Supports the process teams in developing and implementing standardized work procedures.
Establishes final routings and costs for new product introductions.
Leads and/or participates in process team kaizen activities needed to meet or exceed the stated metrics for their functional areas of responsibility.
Leads capital projects related to production floor improvements in productivity, capacity, quality, or safety.
Reviews and updates labor and machine routings by completing time studies, monitoring work, and reviewing production data. Ensures SAP routings and work centers are accurate.
Utilizes quality tools to assess process capability and variability. Applies process controls to limit variability.
Designs workstations and work cell layouts to improve ergonomics and prevent injuries and illnesses. Investigates ergonomic injuries and illnesses for potential root cause and implements countermeasures to prevent future recurrence.
Designs and/or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment.
Conducts problem solving analyses on production or quality related problems to identify root cause. Identifies and implements countermeasures that prevent future recurrence of problem.
Must be eligible to work in the United States for any employer.
Some travel may be required.

The ideal candidate will have:
A minimum of three (3) years prior related experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering or other engineering discipline
Lean manufacturing experience in a high-volume production environment
Previous experience with industrial packaging equipment and processes a plus
Working knowledge of injection molding a plus
Proficient user of the following software: MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, and AutoCAD
SAP experience preferred
Additional qualifications that will help you be successful in this role:
Strong understanding of engineering relating to the manufacture and assembly of quality products.
Understanding of LEAN manufacturing principles as applied in a high-volume production environment.
Strong ability to interpret documents such as engineering drawings, product specifications, quality plans, test requests, reports, etc.
Ability to evaluate situations and reach logical conclusions.
Problem Solving - propose ideas, find new and better ways of doing things.
Proactive in analyzing issues and solving problems.
Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines with efficiency and accuracy.
