Housekeeping - Laundry Attendant

The Laundry Attendant plays the critical role of providing the constant supply of fresh, clean linens and terry for the hotel, and linen for the food and beverage outlets.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Contributes to the departmental and property monthly goals for guest satisfaction scores by doing the job right the first time and giving exemplary service that goes above and beyond guest expectations. This is Job One for all team members. 
• Collects, receives, and sorts all dirty linen and terry, pre-soaking stained items, and setting aside unusable in the appropriate reclaim or discard area. Pre-soaking includes determining the most effective solvents to be used and proper application
• Loads washers and dryers according to machine manufacturer’s instructions, following load limit guidelines and proper use and concentration of cleaning chemicals.
• Removes linen and terry from dryer; sorts, folds, and stocks items according to the housekeeping policy.
• Places linen items in the proper containers for storage, transport, or distribution; never allows laundry to sit on the floor, regardless of dirty/clean status.
• Delivers items to guestrooms as requested.
• Is trained to perform basic functions at the Front Desk. Cross trains for the Ambassador position if qualified.
• Identifies leads for sales by surfacing information on guests’ companies and reasons to visit and communicate them to Sales using the specified method. 
• Cleans late check outs as needed, as well as public areas as assigned. 
• Takes personal responsibility to rectify guest complaints to their satisfaction. Listen actively to the guest’s complaint or concern, tell them what you are going to do, and then follow through, entering the issue in Quore and taking personal responsibility to ensure the guest is satisfied with the outcome. Never let a guest leave unhappy. 
• Makes safety and security a top priority. Is completely trained in competent in all emergency procedures and be ready to take charge in an emergency. Is constantly aware of potential security threats and models If You See Something, Say Something by notifying the Manager on Duty or any other Manager. Knowledgeable of important cutoffs located in Laundry and Housekeeping, as well as water, electrical, gas, and sprinkler cutoffs.
• Follows all OSHA/HAZCOM procedures, including Bloodborne Pathogens.
• Keeps laundry room clean and organized
• Monitors laundry chute area for appropriate access and usage.
• Cleans machine filters daily. Cleans behind and above dryer daily, ensuring nothing is stored behind dryer.
• Brings any equipment or inventory issues to the Director of Housekeeping’s attention immediately.
• Drives the hotel shuttle vehicle as needed if approved. Records all trips in the log book.    Reports any service needs to supervisor or Manager on Duty immediately. 
• Maintains regular attendance in compliance with the hotel’s standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
• Wears appropriate brand required uniform and name tag during all scheduled shifts.
• Performs all other duties assigned from time to time.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Detail oriented and thorough.
• Ability to perform basic communication skills
• Must be able to work late afternoons and evening. 

Education and Experience:

·      On-the-job training

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods standing and walking, and frequently pulling, pushing, and bending.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at a time.
