What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Pharmacist/PRN position at Quality Correctional Care?
About Us: Quality RX Pharmacy is one of the newest business ventures of Quality Comprehensive Health Solutions (QCHS) and was founded in 2020. Quality RX (QRX) directly supports Quality Comprehensive Health Solutions overall vision of improving the health and wellness of individuals involved in Indiana’s criminal justice system. By working closely with the Quality Correctional Care and facility staff, QRX is able to provide prescription medications to patients in a cost effective and efficient manner during incarceration. QRX also assists these patients navigate the challenges of sustaining the wellness and recovery process when leaving jail and returning to their communities.
Registered Pharmacist Position Summary: The Registered Pharmacist must work with pharmacy staff, Quality Correctional Care staff, and county staff to provide medications to inmates and facilities. This is a PRN position.
Registered Pharmacist Mandatory Functions:
- Comply with all current and future state, federal, and local laws and regulations.
- Comply with court orders, medical department rules and the policies and procedures of Quality Rx.
- Review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriate therapy, and interactions and communicate any discrepancies to providers quickly to prevent any disruption of care to patients
- Accurately and efficiently process, package, and dispense prescriptions
- Maintains records for controlled substances and removes outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory.
- Closely manage inventory in a cost-effective manner
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and ensures work is accurate
- Recommend improved procedures, equipment, and supplies to Supervisor.
- Participate in periodic drug utilization reviews of facilities.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Present/participate in in-service education sessions.
- Maintain professional attitude at all times.
- Any and all duties as assigned.
Registered Pharmacist Education, experience, and skills required:
- The Registered Pharmacist must be licensed in the state of Indiana
- Graduate degree from an accredited pharmacy college recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE)
