What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Specialist position at Questar III BOCES?
Starting 9/1/22 - Questar III BOCES announces a vacancy for a long-term regular substitute Behavior Specialist located at our Maple Hill Middle School location in Schodack, NY. This position will cover a long-term leave of absence from the start of the school year through December 2022. The Behavior Specialist will be responsible for working collaboratively with staff and administration on implementing behavior support practices; including but not limited to behavior observation/monitoring, behavior consultations and behavior interventions. Serves as primary contact to staff for behavior related reporting, data collection and training and assessment tracking. Works with the Special Education Administrators and the Director of Special Education on the development of behavioral systems within the Special Education Program, including the development and implementation of a Functional Behavior Analysis/Behavior Intervention Plan (FBA/BIP) process and targeted professional development and consultation on classroom management plans. Serves as coordinator and trainer for therapeutic intervention models. Works under general supervision of the Director of Special Education.
Certified candidates must hold NYS certification as a School Psychologist or related field. Non-certified candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Counseling, Behavioral Sciences or related field and experience working with children as a behaviorist. Preferred applicants will be licensed as a Mental Health Counselor, hold board certification as a Behavior Analyst, and have experience with Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training. Background in Applied Behavioral Analysis also preferred.
