Responsibilities:
- Manage and update attorneys' calendars, including scheduling and rescheduling court hearings, depositions, meetings, and other legal events.
- Monitor and review court rules and procedures to ensure compliance with deadlines and requirements.
- Coordinate with attorneys, paralegals, and other legal staff to gather necessary information for scheduling and calendar maintenance.
- Proactively identify scheduling conflicts and propose solutions to mitigate potential issues.
- Communicate and liaise with courts, opposing counsel, and other external parties to confirm and coordinate court appearances and trial dates.
- Keep accurate records and documentation of all calendar-related activities.
- Monitor changes to case schedules and notify relevant parties promptly.
- Assist attorneys in preparing and filing necessary documents related to court appearances and hearings.
- Stay updated on local, state, and federal court rules and procedures to ensure accurate scheduling and compliance.
- Collaborate with other members of the administrative team to support overall firm operations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional legal education or certification is a plus.
- Previous experience as a calendar clerk or in a similar role within a law firm or legal setting is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent time management abilities and the capacity to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in using calendar management software and other relevant legal software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, legal case management systems).
- Familiarity with court rules, procedures, and filing requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with attorneys, clients, and external parties.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain a high level of professionalism.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work under tight deadlines.
