What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Specialist position at R.H. White Construction?

Position Summary:

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for all payroll related responsibilities including compiling payroll data, entering timesheets, performing quality control procedures, reconciling errors, processing payroll, printing checks and direct deposit notifications and transmitting direct deposit file to financial institution. The position is also responsible for entering local and federal Prevailing Wage rates into payroll system and the generation of Certified Payroll reports. Work is performed independently with direction from the Accounting Manager and Controller.

Hiring Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent including courses in business administration.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience processing payroll.
  • CPP preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software applications and automated Payroll systems required.
  • Knowledge of general payroll/ tax practices required.
  • Possess problem resolution skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding pay rates, wages, deductions, and any other sensitive matters.
  • Ability to follow procedures and identify process improvements.
  • High degree of professionalism. Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong communication, customer service and organizational skills.
