What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Operations Center Manager position at R+L Carriers?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the NOC staff to monitor, detect, and respond to network events and incidents in a timely manner, ensuring minimal service disruption.
- Establish and refine operational processes to ensure effective and efficient use of monitoring tools, and streamline incident detection, resolution, and reporting procedures.
- Oversee incident management processes including identification, resolution, escalation, and communication of service-impacting issues.
- Prepare and deliver regular reports on network performance, application health, and infrastructure stability to internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage the setup, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of network monitoring systems, ensuring all critical infrastructure is being effectively tracked.
- Coordinate and track the status of operational tasks including preventive maintenance, incident resolution, and support for customer-facing issues.
- Ensure the operational readiness of all enterprise colocation and owned data centers, ensuring they meet operational, security, and reliability standards.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams such as Infrastructure, Application Architecture, and other operational teams to ensure that data center infrastructure and operations align with business needs.
- Keep up with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in NOC and data center operations, recommending new tools, technologies, or improvements to optimize processes.
Preferred Qualifications/Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Equivalent work experience may also be considered.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to manage and lead a technical team in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
- Ability to develop and implement process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Knowledge of ITIL and best practices for incident, change, and problem management.
