Machine Tool Operator I

Position Description Summary:

To provide labor and expertise in the day-to-day operation of multiple types of manual and numerical controlled machine tools. Duties will include the set up and running of machine tools to perform repetitive machining tasks such as turning, milling, drilling, boring, honing, broaching, grinding and other tasks as assigned.

Required Experience/Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3 years Machine Shop experience
• Good blueprint reading skills
• Basic Manual Machine and CNC operation skills (mill and lathe preferred)

Preferred Experience:

• Work experience in the machine shop environment
• Good blueprint reading skills.
• Overhead crane and forklift (will certify to center standards)
• Must be able to read and follow detailed instruction.
• Must be able to work independent or within a small team

Essential Job Functions are:

Work Environment:

• Work is performed in a machine shop environment
• Physical labor is required

Physical Requirements are:

• The ability to lift up to 40lbs
• The ability to stand for long periods of time
• The ability to perform physical task

Security Clearance Requirement: Not applicable for this position. Applicants for positions which require a US government security clearance must meet eligibility requirements to include US citizenship.

Other Essential Functions: Candidate must meet eligibility for a Public Trust background investigation for government issued credentials and IT accesses.
