Position Overview :
The Equipment Manager oversees the management and strategic growth of the company's internal tool and equipment rental program, ensuring operational efficiency and maximizing profitability. This role supports construction projects by managing tools and equipment for internal use while enhancing a profitable rental program.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Tool and Equipment Management :
- Oversee inventory, condition, and distribution of tools and equipment across all projects.
- Ensure tools and equipment are well-maintained, operational, safely stored, and rotated as needed.
- Manage procurement, repair, and replacement processes to meet project demands.
- Implement and manage digital tracking systems for tool inventory and rental operations.
- Ensure accurate data recording for tool availability, rental charges, and usage history.
2. Internal Tool Rental Program and Profitability Enhancement :
Enhance and manage a profitable rental program.Develop pricing strategies aligned with company goals and market value.Track rental utilization and implement measures to improve turnover.Collaborate with project teams to identify rental needs and recommend cost-effective solutions.Identify underutilized tools and develop strategies to increase usage.Implement marketing and communication plans to increase awareness of the rental program.Analyze and report on the financial performance of the rental program.3. Team Management :
Supervise tool room attendants, assistants, and drivers to ensure seamless operations.Schedule and coordinate staff assignments to meet jobsite tool management needs.Provide training and development opportunities to build team competency.4. Safety and Compliance :
Enforce safety regulations and company policies for tool use and maintenance.Lead safety training programs related to tool resource management.Investigate incidents involving tools and equipment, implementing preventive measures.5. Driving :
Occasionally operate company vehicles to deliver and retrieve tools and equipment as a backup to primary drivers.Ensure adherence to traffic laws and company driving policies.Maintain a valid drivers license and keep vehicle maintenance logs updated.Working Conditions :
Work is performed in a combination of office, shop, and outdoor environments.Exposure to dust, odors, oil, fumes, and noise is common.Outdoor work may involve walking or standing for long periods on uneven surfaces.Noise levels may range from moderate to high, depending on the environment.Physical Requirements :
Ability to kneel, squat, crawl, push, pull, climb, and reach as needed.Manual dexterity to operate tools, equipment, computers, and office machines.Capability to maneuver through various terrains and operate motor vehicles.Other Requirements :
Education & Experience : Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in logistics, operations management, or a related field; 3 years in tool / equipment management or similar roles.Technical Skills : Proficiency in inventory management software; strong knowledge of construction tools and equipment.Leadership Skills : Proven ability to lead teams and drive operational efficiency.Interpersonal Skills : Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage with teams and senior leadership.
