POSITION TITLE: Preschool Floating Aide/Instructional Assistant

DESCRIPTION
Qualified candidates must have one of the following:
- Experience working with preschool children.
- Education in the Early Childhood Education field.
POSITION SUMMARY
To work with preschool students (age 3-5 years), parents, and student assistants in Rainier Preschool. To provide a positive role model and demonstrate knowledge in developmentally appropriate practices, lesson planning, and preschool programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be age 18 or older with a high school diploma or GED.
- Must have a background and/or training in preschool, knowledge of child development or early childhood education by meeting one of the education qualification requirements listed above.
- Willingness to work under the direction of the preschool instructor, preschool teacher assistant, and preschool director/elementary school principal and to work in collaboration with the local Head Start staff.
- Willingness to learn new job-related skills.
- Be mentally, physically and emotionally capable of performing assigned duties related to preschool.
- Maintain First Aid/CPR and Food Handler's cards.
- Enroll in the Criminal Background Registry (CBR) and Oregon Registry Online (ORO) and submit all training certificates to the ORO system.
- Must be willing to complete 2 hours of training in Child Abuse and Neglect issues.
- Willingness to participate in at least 15 clock hours of training or education related to child care, of which eight clock hours shall be in child development or early childhood education. If an individual has worked in the facility less than a year, the training requirements will be prorated as follows: At least 1.25 clock hours for each month worked in the current license period.
- Ability to plan and implement developmentally-appropriate lessons using adopted curriculum.
- Must be willing to complete annual trainings required by Rainier School District #13.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Basic understanding of math and language skills
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support in planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate preschool program which meets the intellectual, emotional, social, and physical needs of each child.
- Support in maintaining records on individual children and their families within specified time frames.
- Ensure that children are supervised at all times with consistent and positive guidance techniques.
- Maintain a positive classroom environment and ensure safety of all students.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise student assistants working in the classroom.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- On a work day, physical requirements may include:
- Stand, sit, walk for 1-8 hours
- Bend, kneel, squat, twist for 1-4 hours 2. Employee may need to occasionally:
- Push and pull or both
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Listen to loud noises
SALARY: Per OSEA Professional Agreement (contract).
EVALUATION: In accordance with OSEA Professional Agreement (contract) and Rainier School District #13 policy.
