What are the responsibilities and job description for the School-Age Child Care Group Leader position at Ramapo for Children?
Position Overview:
Ramapo for Children is seeking an energetic Group Leader to support the work of the School-Age Child Care Program at Chancellor Livingston Elementary School in Rhinebeck, NY. This role will collaborate with and assist the Site Supervisor in the overall implementation of group specific activities, youth development strategies at our SACC program and will create a positive, nurturing relationship with children and their parents/caregivers. This program includes Early Care (7:30am – 10:30am) and After Care (2:45pm – 6:00pm) hours.
Responsibilities:
- Establish a rapport with staff and students alike to contribute to a safe, supportive and structured setting that encourages self-expression and personal growth.
- Facilitate age-appropriate activities and assist with lesson planning.
- Supervise children during structured and unstructured times including playground, snack time, group activities, and homework help.
- Implement specific group strategies which promote inclusive and healthy (emotionally and physically) environment.
- Inspire, motivate and set a positive example for students.
- Relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Maintain 30 hours of childcare related training every two years.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associates degree in child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation or a related field; or High School Diploma or its equivalent preferred.
- 2-3 years of direct experience working with children less than 13 years of age.
- Ability to work as part of a team, openness to learning, and readiness to jump in to a fun, energetic school-based environment.
