Duties & Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales
- Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with fast and friendly service.
- Assist customers with product suggestions and special orders.
- Answer and respond to incoming calls professionally; resolve customer complaints and escalate to the Store Director when needed.
- Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in‑store intercom, and direct customer interaction.
- Possess full knowledge of duties performed by all department employees and assist with preparation, brewing, and serving of food and beverage items.
- Implement proper and efficient product preparation and packaging techniques.
- Operate department equipment including kitchen utensils, conventional and microwave ovens, coffee grinders, coffee machines, espresso machines, blenders, printers, and pallet jacks.
- Brew coffee and tea following company standards.
- Maintain proper temperatures for all hot and cold food items during preparation, display, and storage.
- Maintain case cleanliness, visual appeal, and adherence to sanitation and safety standards for the Starbucks area and equipment.
- Ensure proper code dating on all department products.
- Build displays, rotate stock, and remove outdated or spoiled product.
- Maintain knowledge of proper coffee bar procedures and layout.
- Follow opening and closing procedures for the department.
- Operate the electronic cash register to total customer bills.
- Accept payments and make accurate change.
- Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees.
- Ensure staffing coverage meets service and operational needs.
- Train employees on store policies, sales processes, and record‑keeping procedures.
- Identify and develop employees with high potential for advancement.
- Monitor employee productivity and evaluate overall performance.
- Initiate personnel actions including interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
- Prepare sales and inventory reports; perform physical inventory every 4 weeks.
- Control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness in accordance with division directives.
- Stock, rotate, and organize product; maintain an orderly cooler.
- Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
- Follow and enforce department standards related to handling quick‑sale items.
- Perform receiving tasks including breaking down loads, verifying orders against invoices, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, and rotating product.
- Maintain accurate administrative paperwork and required logs.
- Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
