The goals of the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics program in MN are to 1) increase access to community-based mental health and substance use disorder services (particularly to under-served communities), 2) advance integration of behavioral health with physical health care, and 3) improve utilization of evidence-based practices on a more consistent basis. Position Summary: The Accounting Supervisor is a key leader in overseeing the financial operations of our Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) in Northeastern Minnesota. This role ensures compliance with complex funding streams, supports payroll and grant accounting, manages internal financial processes, and provides meaningful financial insights to support organizational decision-making. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mission-aligned, and experienced in nonprofit or healthcare finance, particularly in behavioral health services. Duties/Responsibilities: Prepare, analyze, and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Oversee payroll processing to ensure timely, accurate disbursement and compliance with federal/state wage and hour laws. Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts; ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data. Manage cost allocations and restricted/unrestricted funding related to state and federal CCBHC grants. Collaborate with HR and finance teams to align payroll with grant budgets and organizational cost structures. Lead the monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, and payroll reconciliation. Oversee grant tracking, billing, and reporting in coordination with the grants management team. Prepare and support external audits, including the annual Single Audit. Ensure compliance with GAAP, Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200), and state funding guidelines. Assist in developing and monitoring organizational and program budgets. Supervise accounting or finance personnel, including payroll, accounts payable, and receivable staff. Maintain and improve internal controls, financial policies, and procedures, including payroll and timekeeping compliance. Required Skills/Abilities: Experience with HRSA, SAMHSA, or state-level behavioral health funding. Familiarity with Northeastern Minnesota s health and human services landscape. Commitment to the mission of equitable, accessible mental health care. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software. Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Education and Experience: Bachelor s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred). 5 years of progressive accounting experience; nonprofit or healthcare setting strongly preferred. Direct experience with payroll processing systems and payroll accounting. Working knowledge of CCBHC funding models, cost reporting, and Medicaid billing is a plus. Strong understanding of fund accounting, grant compliance, and federal/state financial reporting. Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, MIP, or similar), payroll systems, and Microsoft Excel. Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills. Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate across departments. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Adequate level of vision to use computer terminal. Sufficient hearing to accurately record information received verbally. Must be 18 years of age.
