Associate Loan Officer (Licensed Sales Assistant)



What's the Role?

Rate is hiring an experienced, licensed Associate Loan Officer (Sales Assistant) to join Pat Gannon's top-producing team in the DMV market. In this role, you will be a crucial point of contact for clients, ensuring a smooth and efficient process while building your own origination business.

You will take handed-off files starting at application and own them through Clear to Close (CTC), while also building and closing your own self-sourced originations.

Location: Remote (Primary market: DC, Maryland, Virginia (DMV), not limited to)

Type: Full-Time

Compensation

Full commission on self-sourced originations (build and own your pipeline)

Bonus paid on funded loans that are originated by the Senior LO and handed off at application (per company bonus schedule)

This dual-income structure allows you to grow your production while earning consistent team bonuses—offering both stability and unlimited upside potential.



What You Will Do

Loan Management & Execution: • Take ownership of loans from application (handoff) through CTC, including borrower communication, documentation collection, and condition management • Perform licensed origination activities, including borrower consultations, discussing programs/options, and guiding borrowers through next steps • Review applications (1003) for completeness and accuracy; identify missing items and potential issues early • Coordinate with processing, underwriting, and closing/title to clear conditions and keep timelines on track

Client & Partner Relations: • Provide consistent updates to borrowers and referral partners (realtors, builders, attorneys/title) • Conduct initial calls with new clients to review their goals and explain our process • Handle client questions and provide support throughout the process, including guiding them through application instructions

Pipeline & Origination: • Originate and manage self-sourced loans from lead through closing • Complete pre-approval letters (PAL) same-day when necessary • Maintain accurate CRM/LOS notes, tasks, and pipeline status for transparency and compliance

Team Collaboration: • Coordinate with real estate agents and buyers, scheduling calls for senior team members as needed • Track and manage leads, providing status reports to the team • Proactively follow up with leads via phone and email



Skills and Qualifications

Required: ✅ Active NMLS license (must be eligible to perform licensed mortgage origination activities)

5 to 10 years of mortgage banking experience, including loan origination and/or LOA (Sales Assistant) experience

Exceptional communication skills – both verbal and written – essential for interacting with clients and real estate agents

Highly organized and detail-oriented – capable of managing multiple tasks, deadlines, and pipeline management

Tech-savvy – comfortable learning new systems and thriving in a deadline-driven, remote environment

Personal Attributes: • Flexible and proactive team player who is self-motivated and enjoys working behind the scenes to help others succeed • Detail-oriented and responsive in fast-paced environments • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with all client personal and financial information • Able to remain calm under pressure while delivering exceptional service
