POSITION: Assistant Teacher (Pre-K)
JOB SUMMARY: This position assists the teacher in developing, implementing, and supervising all curricula/classroom activities. This position is responsible for helping maintain a safe and healthy learning environment. This position assists the teacher in the completion of comprehensive child assessments.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the teacher with supervision of all classroom and outdoor activities.
- Participate in the screening and ongoing assessment of children.
- Assist the teacher with the development and implementation of each child’s individualized program.
- Assist with planning, implementation and evaluation of daily lesson plans.
- Help prepare and maintain classroom environment for daily activities in compliance with curriculum requirements.
- Provide a supportive and relaxed climate at mealtime and model and encourage good nutrition and proper social skills.
- Work collaboratively with the teacher and other Head Start staff to meet the needs of each child.
- Sanitize classroom materials as required and complete sanitation and safety checklists.
- Attend in-service training and monthly staff meetings.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or Preschool CDA is preferred. Ravalli Head Start, Inc. will assist in earning a CDA credential upon hire.
- Experience working with preschool age children in an educational setting.
- High School Diploma or GED
OTHER NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
- Must obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
- Must obtain knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to child abuse and neglect.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.14 - $19.19 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
